Objectives

With the CITIZENS OF THE WORLD (WIDE WEB) project, we wanted to respond to national and territorial needs related to inclusiveness, environment and youth unemployment. Specifically: OB1 Counteract the phenomena of school failure by integrating competence-based teaching with a mobility experience abroad OB2 Enhance learners' digital skills by educating them in digital citizenship as a strategy to counter cyberbullying OB3 Enhance environmental and sustainability education by fostering inclusion through peer-to-peer comparison in a European learning context OB4 Foster the adoption of innovative teaching methodologies through participation in professional development and teacher training courses.

Background

The Liceo Linguistico-Scientifico "A.M. De Carlo" was founded in the 1970s in Giugliano in Campania as the Liceo Scientifico. In response to the needs of social and territorial inclusion, we moved its location from the city center to the suburbs, embracing a larger user base spread across the Linguistic, Biomedical and Cambridge International addresses. In a.s. 2022/2023, we were among the first schools in Italy to activate the Liceo Scientifico Quadriennale for the ecological and digital transition. With the CITIZENS OF THE WORLD (WIDE WEB) project, we placed our participants in a context that was inclusive in content and form, where learners delved into environmental and digital issues, for a sustainable future forged by humanly and culturally formed students. Consistently, our teachers took part in an in-depth course on innovative, Spanish and European teaching methodologies, improving our teaching.
