The University of Teramo (UNITE) has made internationalization a key strategic focus, dedicating extensive resources and efforts to enhance its global presence. This commitment aligns with the principles outlined in its Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS), the University's Strategic Plan, and the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). UNITE's strategy aims to foster greater international engagement by providing more opportunities for students, staff, and departments to engage in study, internships, teaching, and training abroad. A cornerstone of this internationalization effort is the active participation in the Erasmus+ (E+) program; through E+, UNITE has significantly expanded its network, establishing over 290 Erasmus+ agreements across 27 EU countries, alongside more than 50 international cooperation agreements with universities in 26 countries worldwide: these partnerships have not only enhanced mobility opportunities but have -also- strengthened academic and research collaborations on a global scale. The University Language Center (CLA) plays a vital role in supporting international mobility by offering Italian language courses for incoming Erasmus students and a range of courses in English, French, German, Spanish, and more recently, Chinese and Arabic, to outgoing students; these courses are designed to facilitate the integration of students and enhance their academic experience, ensuring they are well-prepared for international study or internships. In addition to Erasmus+, UNITE actively participates in other major international research and education programs, such as Horizon 2020 and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, further expanding opportunities for academic staff and researchers to engage in international collaboration and research projects: this participation has positioned UNITE within various international academic networks, contributing to its growing role in global research and innovation. The internationalization strategy of the Institution, driven by its participation in Erasmus+ and other global initiatives, serves as a critical enabler for enhancing the quality of education, research, and cultural exchange; for instance ,a significant indicator of UNITE's efforts in achieving its internationalization objectives (as well as its focus on enhancing participants' knowledge of the acquis communautaire in Erasmus+ projects) is the presence of Jean Monnet Chairs, along with numerous courses dedicated to International Cooperation. The objectives that the University aimed to achieve with the implementation of the project were: • To improve the quality and increase the volume of mobility for both students and staff by enhancing participants' academic skills and competencies, thus improving their employability through increased curricular competitiveness gained from international traineeship experiences. Additionally, it aimed to facilitate the recognition of study periods or professional training abroad, qualifications, and titles. Specifically, for staff mobility, the goal was to acquire a set of best practices from more experienced universities to bring back to the University of Teramo. • To increase UniTe's attractiveness by drawing more students and staff, inviting visiting professors and researchers from prestigious institutions, offering higher-quality, work-oriented education, and creating an increasingly international environment. • To consolidate the internationalization of study programs by issuing joint or double degrees and promoting the establishment of new courses specifically tailored for international students. • To optimize the relationship between the acquisition and recognition of credits obtained abroad, thereby improving the University’s performance and positioning in terms of attracting financial resources. • To strengthen international networks for the creation of new areas of interest, useful for forming partnerships for internationally competitive projects such as Erasmus+ KA2, and to reinforce existing scientific and cultural relationships with European and non-EU institutions, thereby expanding the international dimension of teaching.
