Università Iuav di Venezia is one of the leading universities in Europe and across the world in the fields of architecture, design, fashion, visual arts, urban planning, and theatre. Since its establishment - in 1926 - Iuav combines in fact a renowned tradition with a firm commitment to permanent innovation while putting the design process at the core of the whole educational experience. In the frame of this scenario, the Green_Train Consortium fits properly, combining Iuav experience with the ones of the partners (Venice Academy of Fine Arts, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Free University of Bozen, University of Sassari - as sending HEIs; Eurosportello Veneto and ESU Venezia - as member organisations active in the labour market and education. The objectives of the Consortium are both specific and general. The first specific objective consists of involving an increasing number of students/recent graduates in the Erasmus+ Programme, through the experience of a “sustainable traineeship”. The geographic focus is mainly Europe, so that the placement could lead participants not only to a professional development, but also to their growth as European citizens more and more aware of the importance of sustainability, in its environmental, economic and social aspect. The second specific objective is represented by the “green network” of host organisations committed to sustainability in their area of competence. The “green network” – established in the past edition of the project - includes non-profit organizations; little and middle sized enterprises, museums and institutions active in the fields of culture, performing arts and fashion. The final objective is general: through the achievement of the above mentioned purposes, Green_Train contributes - and will contribute more and more in the longer run - to the implementation of the measures stated in the European Green Deal. The mobilities offer to young people, in fact, a professional training in high profile institutions, already supporting with their own expertise sustainable development of the European economy. Finally, as for the quantitative objectives, the Consortium fully achieved and exceeded the number of traineeships expected according to the grant agreement: instead of the AN approved number of mobilities – 89 - the supported traineeships were 122.
