Objectives

The Università degli Studi di Perugia is constantly committed to promoting the internationalisation of its activities with the aim of enriching the educational and professional experience of all members of the academic community. With this in mind, the Erasmus+ individual mobility project represents one of the key actions of the University's strategy as it offers students, lecturers, researchers and staff the opportunity to immerse themselves in stimulating and intercultural academic contexts. Through international mobility, students and doctoral students have the opportunity to undertake periods of study at partner institutions selected for the complementarity of the academic programmes offered, having access to a wide range of high-quality courses at European and non-European universities. Students, including recent graduates, can undertake internships at companies and institutions with a solid reputation. Such experiences, which are crucial for the training of highly qualified professionals and for enhancing the employability of graduates, enable more favourable career prospects. Participating in a mobility under the Erasmus+ Programme is a unique opportunity to enhance one's studies and to acquire and develop a number of key personal and professional skills that are highly valued in the world of work, such as language skills (referring both to the language of the host country and to foreign languages in general), intercultural skills (interacting with people from different cultures develops greater understanding and respect for diversity), adaptability (having to deal with new situations, environments and educational systems helps one to be more flexible in the face of change) problem-solving skills (solving the unforeseen challenges of living abroad, in a different context from the usual one, helps to improve critical thinking), interpersonal and communication skills (building new relationships and working in a team with people from different cultural backgrounds strengthens these skills), autonomy and self-confidence (managing daily life in a foreign country develops independence and higher self-esteem), as well as aspects such as creativity and innovation (exposure to new environments and ideas stimulates creative thinking and the ability to innovate). In addition to fostering the acquisition of specific and relevant professional skills in one's field of study through internships or practical training opportunities, the international mobility experience offers the opportunity to intensify one's international network, creating a network of contacts that can open doors for future job opportunities and collaborations. The participation of academic and administrative staff in international mobility fosters the acquisition of new teaching methodologies and the exchange of best practices, so that lecturers, researchers and staff, beneficiaries of teaching or training mobility grants, can hone their skills and constantly update themselves, each in their own field of action. This not only enriches staff training but also generates a positive impact on the personal profile of the participants, bringing greater job satisfaction and also stimulating international networking. Both aspects spill over positively into the quality of services offered to students as such experiences foster a fruitful academic and cultural exchange. Ultimately, the aim of the University's participation in the Erasmus+ Programme is to enable mobility beneficiaries to gain access to a life experience in an international context that increases their understanding of global dynamics and social, economic and environmental challenges. For this reason, the University's approach is to constantly strive to find academic partners of excellence with a view to promoting educational affinity, complementarity of teaching programmes and quality experiences abroad. The establishment of new Erasmus+ agreements during the period of validity of the project demonstrates a constant commitment to the expansion of collaborations and the diversification of destinations so as to offer mobility beneficiaries a wider range of opportunities to enrich their educational pathways. The University of Perugia, therefore, not only promotes internationalisation as part of its mission, but is also dedicated to ensuring inclusiveness and equity, enabling a growing number of members of the academic community to benefit from mobility experiences. Through such initiatives, the University aims to consolidate its role in the global academic community, helping to train more knowledgeable and aware professionals in an increasingly international context.
