Objectives

Founded in 1997, the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (unibz) is a vibrant center of internationalization and multilingualism in South Tyrol, where Italian and German cultures blend seamlessly. Offering programmes in German, English, Italian, and Ladin, the University embodies a global academic spirit. Its diverse community includes 13.4% international students and 31% international faculty, well above national averages. A key pillar of the institution’s global reach is the Erasmus programme, which it views as an invaluable opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to expand their horizons, gain international experience, and enhance their personal and professional development. This focus on mobility and exchange is central to the University’s mission and has established it as a relevant participant in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The monitoring authority "AlmaLaurea" data highlights that 19.6% of unibz graduates have studied abroad, more than twice the national average of 9%, underscoring the critical role Erasmus plays in preparing students for a globalized world. Erasmus mobility is therefore vital for a trilingual university, enriching students' cultural fluency, academic experience, and global perspective, making it indispensable.
