Objectives

The transition to the new 2021-27 program represented an important opportunity for IULM University to rationalize Erasmus Inter Institutional Agreements, with the intention of enhancing those that are active both inbound and outbound, closing those that are not active or active only inbound, and formalizing new agreements possibly with English language area universities. The stated objective was to increase the destinations and the number of spots available for our students enrolled in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs taught in English, as well as to balance the number of outgoing students with incoming ones, after the significant increase in incoming students recorded in 2021-22 (+90%). This timely review of partnerships has brought results expected as early as AY 2022-23: we have increased outgoing mobility for study reasons by 62% and outgoing mobility for traineeships by 53% against a further 10% increase in incoming mobility. Furthermore, the University's commitment to diversifying the international experiences available to IULM students has also continued: in 2022-23 we participated in two BIPs, one held at IULM (PaRoLo-Mi) and one at the partner’s campus (Luxury); we also carried out the third edition of the IULM International Week, experimenting with a different model than the previous ones. Thanks to the exponential increase in incoming students over the last two years, we have significantly intensified opportunities for collaboration with IULM offices and services that are usually less involved in the direct management of international students; we have also increased and diversified the reception, socialisation and tutoring activities dedicated to them. All these concerted actions have undoubtedly helped to stimulate more awareness at all levels of the university regarding issues and problems arising from the proper management of international students. At the administrative level, we have set the goal of optimising the use of the granted financial resources: we have therefore also reported on the 2022 project some traineeship or staff mobility realised in the academic year 2023-24.
