The University aimed to enhance and expand international mobility opportunities for both UKE students and academic and administrative staff. The planning and strategy development involved setting clear goals and defining roles and responsibilities among the administrative units supporting the International Relations Office. A key objective was to increase staff mobility for training purposes, facilitating the exchange of best practices and fostering professional interactions in an international context. This was particularly important as internationalization activities increasingly involve other offices, especially those managing academic study programs. A significant priority was the expansion of interinstitutional agreements, with a special focus on the newly established Department of Medicine and Surgery. In collaboration with the faculty, the International Relations Office developed an action plan aimed at creating conditions to establish new agreements and welcome Erasmus students for both study and traineeship opportunities. Additionally, the University sought to encourage student participation in short-term mobility programs and intensive blended programs. A further strategic goal was the creation of an ESN (Erasmus Student Network) Enna section, with active involvement from UKE Buddies. For several years, UKE students have played a vital role in the University's internationalization efforts, specifically by supporting the International Relations Office in welcoming and assisting international students.
