Objectives

The support from the European Community for the CHANCE IT project has allowed us to respond promptly and specifically to the macro objectives and goals we had set. It has also enabled the development of an extremely effective methodology with potential applications across various targets, adapting to individuals affected by different health conditions. Regarding artists with chronic and autoimmune diseases, CHANCE IT has provided unprecedented support. The research activity has opened new perspectives, paths, and possibilities, urging us to go beyond to be increasingly precise in the proposals we offer and to address the unique needs of each individual.

Background

CHANCE IT is born with the intention of providing methodological support to artists affected by chronic and autoimmune diseases (PCA), aiming to make them operational again in their field and assist in their return to work. According to the OMS, chronic diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide. Studies such as "Effects of dance activities on patients with chronic diseases: scoping review" suggest dance as a support for PCAs to recover cognitive and physical abilities, improve quality of life by promoting well-being and social interaction—functions often disrupted or altered. PCA disrupt the lives of movement artists, undermining their very subsistence. In addition to specific symptoms of each disease, patients often experience pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and mood disorders. Anxiety, uncertainty, frustration, and loss of control may arise. CHANCE IT collaborates in restoring and maintaining a positive emotional, spiritual, and physical perspective through group work that emphasizes sharing and reopens the creative channel.
