Objectives

This project has been aimed at raising awareness on the key value of intercultural competence in education for social integration and inclusion; engaging adult people in active training initiatives; stimulating exchange of better educational practice; developing tools for educators and trainers; raising the quality and inclusiveness of educational activities; raising awareness about education to intercultural competence to educators, to the general public and to participants of educational activities.

Background

The consortium has considered for decades education to intercultural competence as a key element to facilitate mutual understanding and dialogue and, consequently, to solve and prevent conflicts and to facilitate social integration and active citizenship. Intolerance and xenophobia in a multicultural Europe have reinforced this topic as a matter of urgency, requiring a common effort to prepare teachers and educators, especially the voluntary workforce, to be ready to face an emergency in terms of integration and inclusion for people forced to flee their own country. For this reason, the consortium has decided to conceive and promote a project focused on skill empowerment on intercultural competence, in order to stimulate mutual understanding and dialogue, fundamental elements in a multicultural world.
