With the Parents United project, we aim to promote cooperation and the exchange of experiences and best practices in the fields of social inclusion and sexual education for parents of children with disabilities (PWD). Our objectives included enhancing parents' knowledge and skills, fostering support networks, and providing resources that empower families. We seek to ensure that parents are equipped to advocate effectively for their children's rights and needs while creating a more inclusive society. Ultimately, we wanted to facilitate a positive dialogue that helps destigmatize disability and enhances the quality of life for both parents and their children. Through this project, we strive to build a community where parents feel supported and informed, enabling them to navigate the challenges they face.
The 'Parents United' project aimed to address specific needs identified within our community. Parents of persons with disabilities frequently encounter considerable obstacles, particularly in the context of social inclusion and sex education. The lack of adequate information and support networks has made it challenging for these families to address sensitive issues fundamental to their children's well-being. The project's objective was to foster collaboration between parents, facilitating the exchange of experiences and best practices. Additionally, we aimed to establish a secure environment where parents could engage in discourse and learn effective strategies for navigating sex education for their children, thereby contributing to enhanced social inclusion and improved quality of life for individuals with disabilities and their families.
