The project aimed to: - create tools for the empowerment of migrant women, through the combination of effective training methodologies such as art therapy, storytelling, psychological support practices and mutual aid; - promote among migrant women of different ages and origins, resilience, creativity, to overcome psychological distress and facilitate integration into host societies, through activities aimed at increasing self-esteem and an attitude of self-entrepreneurship; - involve a large number of organizations at local/national/European level in addressing the problems of migrant women.
Migrant women often face problems of social inclusion and psychological distress; as a European Parliament Resolution also states: “… a large number of migrant women live on the margins of society. Their access to public, political and economic life remains exceptionally limited… immigrant women are victims of double discrimination on grounds of gender and ethnic origin… Strengthening the participation of migrant women in all expressions of social life allows them to escape from the conditions of isolation and alienation in the host society…” (European Parliament Resolution of 27/09/2006) This condition, which has also been aggravated by the pandemic, poses the need to find approaches and tools for the empowerment of migrant women. Hence the idea of this project, which uses the combination of effective training methodologies such as art therapy, storytelling, psychological support practices and mutual aid, to create tools and activities for organizations active in adult education that work with migrant women in Europe.
