The project aimed to experiment new ways to enable education, training, and learning, become inclusive, equitable and lifelong. Through the pedagogy of strength-based learning and phenomena-based learning, the partnership intended to train teaching staff to create inclusive learning paths by sharing each country's national curricula and collecting implemented best practices on the gm5 and S.O.S peacemakers websites.
The project originated within a partnership that had as its objective the creation of a curriculum on social skills for 3 to 14 years old students (Give Me Five 2017-2020). The experience promoted the creation of a more cooperative and interactive educational relatioship between teachers and pupils. Hence the group's need to deepen the course by focusing on the well-being of the educational community, through strength pedagogy and phenomenon-based learning. Strength-based learning puts the learner at the centre of the educational process, in its entirety considering cognitive, social and affective aspects, trying to create a positive environment and to focus learning on the strengths of each learner regardless of the diversity present. The phenomena-based approach makes it possible to use active and pedagogically meaningful methodological strategies, which allow for the creation of different learning environments in which one learns by doing. Each student can find what he or she needs most: a deepening, a remedial or a reinforcement. This system promotes inclusion and the development of social skills.
