Objectives

Our youth exchange "Safe Drive - Save Life" have taken place in Cefalu, Italy, as part of an international initiative - the prevention and response to road violence have been addressed. "196 Paesi" have involved six countries in this youth exchange. The aim of this project have been to educate 36 young people on critical aspects of Road Violence Prevention and Response, safe driving, and preparing them for hazardous situations on the road. It have sought to increase their awareness about the risks we faced in daily life when involved in traffic jams. The project initiative of "196 Paesi" have been in line with the EU Road Safety Policy Framework. The latter, initiated by the European Commission, have set out to reduce road deaths in Europe between 2021 and 2030. "196 Paesi" have aimed to equip young people with knowledge across various fields. Together with our partners, we have identified that road violence prevention and response, as well as reckless driving, were shared problems in all the countries participating in this project. Participants from different countries and cultures have shared their experiences and opinions on the project topics at this exchange. We believe that many aspects of our lives contribute to us becoming responsible European citizens. In our view, the respect for life and the ability to ensure the safety of others in traffic is closely linked to being good European citizens. Hence, during this exchange, we had the chance to delve into the project topic and discuss European values, laws, and regulations related to safe driving in greater detail. What made this exchange even more intriguing was that the participants had the opportunity to meet local experts, driving instructors, and delve into the importance of safe driving for both themselves and their communities.
