Objectives

The project aimed to achieve several objectives to address the concerns of young people regarding the effects of climate change and the challenges in finding stability and quality in employment, especially in rural areas. The main objectives of the project were the following Reducing youth unemployment: The project aimed to address persistent youth unemployment in the participating countries, such as Italy, Spain, Slovakia and Romania, in order to understand the medium- and long-term impacts of this situation. Sustainable tourism development: Another important objective of the project was to explore the possibilities of developing sustainable tourism enterprises for young people in Italy, Spain, Slovakia and Romania. The concept of 4ASC (attraction, accessibility, amenity, ancilliary, safeness and comfort),) was to be used as a basic scheme to promote sustainable tourism and youth entrepreneurial skills. Environmental conservation: The project encouraged young people to develop economic and entrepreneurial proposals in line with the environmental needs of their contexts. The aim was to emphasise the importance of environmental protection and sustainable tourism, focusing on the responsible use of natural resources. Exchange of knowledge and experience: Through the interaction between different stakeholders, such as local institutions, youth organisations and civil society, the project would provide an opportunity to reflect and collaborate on issues related to youth entrepreneurship, non-traditional tourism and environmental protection. Creation of sustainable business proposals: An essential part of the exchange activities involved the production of a final document that would allow the young people to develop business proposals reflecting the opportunities of sustainable tourism in their respective regions. For the Municipality of Muro Lucano, the project represented an opportunity to harness the potential of tourism and entrepreneurship to contribute to local development and offer more employment options to young people, encouraging them to stay in their community. Through this initiative, the municipality would attract young people from different countries and involve local and regional actors to promote the development of business ideas and proposals focused on sustainable tourism, thus contributing to the economic and social growth of the area.
