We would like to encourage group mobility for learning purposes by developing links with the Sicilian community in Italy, to disseminate sustainability ideas in the adult community while using and improving information technology and English language skills suporting ecological awareness, and to gain experience for the activities in oder to run the newly established culinary faculty.
Volunteering teachers have been teaching English, information technology, the art of photography, organising healthy lifestyle activities to students of Joniškis Third Age University faculties for more than 8 years. As a result, a number of topics have been learned and the need of new topic ideas and ways to implement them has occoured for both - learners and teachers. Further, there is a lack of courage and good practice examples and inspiration to volunteer among adult learners in Joniškis district. Most older learners underestimate themselves by claiming that the knowledge they acquired in their youth is worthless and irrelevant today. English, as a foreigh language, is taught only during the classes and not practised in every day life, as well as, the application of information technology knowledge is limited to everyday, short-term topics. Participation in this project would provide an multipurpuse opportunity to respond to several challenges in the field of education in one go.
