Objectives

With regard to identified problems, school planning documents, participation in Tūkstantmečio mokyklų programe, this project set up the following objective - to identify and adequately evaluate special and/or other learning needs of students and by applying provisions and attitude of inclusive education to individualize education and build a safe learning environment for all students. Our school does not have a special pedagogue, who could help the teachers to identify special needs of the students. That is why this project aims to tackle the mentioned issues and contribute to meeting the needs of every student.

Background

Our school provides education for four final years of secondary school. Our students come from all Kelmė district and they all have different learning needs. In order to meet these needs a variety of educational centers were set up: Information, Publishing, Sports, Technologies, Music Record Studio, TV and Radio Studio, etc. where lessons and extra-curricular activities and projects take place. The priorities of the school: ICT use in education processes, education of knowledge society; artistic education, building a healthy school. Following our school philosophy, we develop respect for every man in our students. As a result, we set up Tolerance Center. We use a virtual learning environment and our teachers use and create e-learning material. The school is certified to provide a distant learning. One of the most current priorities is inclusive education. A substantial part of our students come from socially vulnerable families who have poorer cognition opportunities. We witness a range of emotional and behavioural problems in our students. On the other hand, there is a number of gifted students who also require special teaching methods. So a variety of individual needs poses a great deal of challenges for teachers and institution
