Today the school must prepare its students for a global, changing world, because the world is getting exponentially more complex. Teachers must develop a personality who thinks critically, is able to understand aspects of the global world, connections and interfaces, and participates in personal contribution not only in local but also in global changes. With this project, we aimed to involve as many community members as possible in international project activities, creating conditions for the educational process to develop students' active citizenship and media and information literacy. However, teachers lacked competences, methodological materials and tools to implement quality global education activities. The main goals and objectives of this project: 1.To learn about the principles, strategies and methods of global education and their using in the education process to develop active citizenship and awareness among students. 2. To develop students' media and information literacy by encouraging critical and creative thinking.
The project is related to global education, developing learners' critical thinking and civic awareness, helping them to better understand their personal role in solving local problems, especially those of their school community, city and country, but also contributing to global issues. The main goal of the organisation is to provide quality education that meets the requirements of the times, so that each student according to his/her needs and abilities, grows as a person, develops civic consciousness, and acquires good social skills that will ensure the possibility of competing in the labour market. One of the school's strategic objectives for 2021-2025 is to foster leadership and civic awareness among the members of the Gymnasium; to strengthen community relations in order to achieve emotional security, social and civic responsibility and cooperation. However, teachers are faced with low student self-esteem, negative stereotypes, attitudes, lack of tolerance, lack of civic awareness, low media and information literacy (MIR), and a lack of active student self-management. Therefore the project aimed to involve as many members of the school community as possible in international project activities, for their development.
