By implementing the project, Šilalė r. Laukuvos Norberto Vėliaus gymnasium aimed to promote the creativity of students and teachers and to deepen intercultural competences. Both teachers and students are usually good at using computers in their free time. However, they lack the skills to use ICT tools for searching subject material, present lesson material creatively and solve problems innovatively. The project activities (courses and students’ mobility) looked for ways and means to foster the creativity of students and teachers in an interesting, modern teaching / learning process that motivates learning and improves students' academic achievement. Also, the project activities were directly related to the deepening of intercultural competences of mobility participants. New challenges related to migration, labor emigration and the increasing number of mixed families with representatives of other nations or races are new, unexpected and stereotyped for many people in our area. During the mobility activities, the students and the teachers got to know the peculiarities of the life and education of students from another country, the differences and similarities between the countries and improved their foreign language skills.
There are many uncertainties and challenges in the world today. The ability to think with regard to the international context, openness, the ability to hear and understand different points of view and empathy are extremely important. It becomes very important to acquire creativity, communication and socio-emotional skills. Active, creative people feel better in such uncertain situations, it is always easier to work together with others - many problems cannot be solved alone. The submitted application corresponds to the priority goals of the 2021-2023 strategic plan for Šilalė r. Laukuvos Norberto Vėliaus gymnasium: to educate students with 21st century competencies (critical thinking, teamwork, decision-making, etc.) necessary for the implementation of the future economy; promote cooperation, self-expression and initiatives; to strengthen nationalism and internationalism. The model for integrating creativity into the education system is also planned as one of the success indicators of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania in 2024. Therefore, the gymnasium needs: 1. To promote creativity, self-expression and initiatives of students and teachers. 2. To deepen intercultural competences.
