We were going to inform our community about the 2030 Agenda and COP26 goals, to bring the ideas of the circular economy and make people conscious of the side-effects of consumerism; to work on converting waste into usable second-hand objects to save natural resources; to encourage the town community into action against excessive usage of electricity, fuel and private transport. Through teaching about biodiversity problems, we encouraged people to build insect hotels.. Suggesting a model of eco-friendly behaviour we wanted to make people willing to become climate neutral citizens and to change their harmful for the environment habits into a sustainable lifestyle. In cooperation with Mazeikiai municipality, other social partners and our French partners, we would get tangible outcomes in solving eco-problems locally, at least within school area, which also would be our little contribution to the efforts of the big European community towards solving environmental problems. Our ambition was to grow conscious, active, climate neutral citizens involving them into environmental facets of sustainable development by improving their digital literacy and strengthening inclusive education.
With this project we were going to act in accordance with the 2030 Agenda and COP26 goals. We needed fresh ideas how to contribute to common efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change. We saw the growth of consumerism all over around. We wanted to educate the young generation so that they would start shaping sustainable habits in their lifestyle. By stepping in circular waste management we could make our aims come true not only on our small scale but also by involving in our actions people, organisations outside our borders. Collaborating with a college from France and integrating project topics in different subjects, we would develop innovative methods of inclusive teaching/learning and reach more advanced level in our performances. As a complimentary task, we had a goal to improve the digital readiness of our community and organise all project environmental activities presenting them with the help of IT platforms that would allow to spare many natural resources. We learnt the possibilities to create a project website on https://www.jimdo.com; for digital designs, projects, tasks we used BookCreator, Canva, Google docs/forms, Powerpoint, QR Code, Scratch, Nearpod, Bamboozle, Liverworksheets, Plickers.
