Objectives

Due to the novelty of the inclusive education process as an overall phenomenon in Lithuania, the lack of training and the need to strengthen professional competencies in an international context, LASUC teachers and specialists experience challenges, stress, and professional difficulties when organizing qualification improvement events and providing educational assistance. By implementing the project "No stress - step to inclusive education", we aimed to strengthen the professional competencies of LASUC teachers and educational support specialists in order to smoothly implement the process of inclusive education in the country's schools.

Background

Lithuanian Education Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (hereinafter - LASUC) educates students with complex disabilities, the combination of which is visual impairment. Provides educational and advisory support to children with visual and multi-faceted developmental disabilities who study in country's general school. LASUC organizes consultations, seminars, training about the emotional and physical environment, implementation of positive behavior strategies, and adaptation of educational materials for students with SEN. The aims to create a harmony of education and consultation services for each student and provide quality and versatile educational support for general education schools in the implementation of inclusive education. During the project "No stress - step to inclusive education", participants in courses were communicating with colleagues from abroad and sought inspiration and innovation in their professional everyday life. Eight LASUC pedagogues and specialists went to EU countries - to learn, get to know, cooperate and generate new ideas and experiences, which is the main foundation for the project results.
