Objectives

Our project challenged and engaged students and teachers from different backgrounds and cultures. By teaching and learning our students the importance of this project we want to create much more tolerant and understanding in the classroom and school but also including parents. We school teachers thought about our school values and approach to other backgrounds and special needs children. The teachers shared how do they teach them acknowledge the experience of the students from different backgrounds. The most common struggle was about dealing with interruptions during class by other special needs children. Knowing how to navigate interruptions is a challenged skill for our teaching members and it is not just easy to keep a class interested, engaged and focused at the same time. In this project, we wanted to achieve create a safe, respected and engaged environment in various type of classrooms. Also, we teaching staff wanted to learn various strategies to create a better environment for various type children classrooms. Classroom management skills usually improve with experience and our teachers didn’t have a specific plan to work on this. This project lead our school teachers to share their knowledge and experience it by practice.

Background

The context of our project was based on how to build a strong class and school community where all learners feel a safe and secure sense of belonging at school. Our teachers came to conclusion that creating a safe space for different learning styles, genders are backgrounds are truly important for our International school. First of all, we asked how can we ensure inclusivity is at the forefront of our daily instruction and we used inclusive classroom strategies to build a strong class and school environment. In our International school we have various special children and it is important to find how to create a classroom allows all learners to feel respected, happy and safe. Our teachers struggled through the year to find out how to keep those children in a very supportive environment. As an international school we have students who speak English as a second language and various special needs children. Our project focused to teach teachers and help them to educate themselves within this project and set clear behaviour, curriculum and other standards for students. In this project we aim to learn various classroom strategies to help teachers accomplish creating an inclusive classroom and support their learners.
