Objectives

The project had three objectives: 1. To increase the school community's ability to participate in international activities. This objective relates to the need to strengthen skills in the preparation and implementation of Erasmus+ projects and to develop the school's internationalisation strategy through quality project management and the expansion of the network of partner schools abroad. 2. To promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among pupils. We aimed to create the conditions for promoting healthy and active lifestyles among children through fun, inclusive and varied physical activity, innovative educational methods, and links with international partners, which would lead to more international cooperation in physical activity in the future. 3. Promote student engagement and leadership by contributing to a cohesive organisational culture. We planned a short-term mobility for a group of pupils to a Norwegian school specialising in natural horticulture. We hoped that the mobility curriculum would allow the students to engage in relevant practical activities with their peers from another country, to gain experience in education that is unusual for Lithuania, and to acquire new knowledge related to their STEAM project.

Background

Pažinimo medis is a network of private kindergartens and schools that started in 2007 and today educates children from 2 to 18 years old. The school's educators focus on the development and implementation of STEAM education, integrating interdisciplinary activities throughout the year into the content of various subjects, while applying the methodology of inquiry-based learning, strengthening the connection with nature through active outdoor activities, discussions on nature conservation and sustainability. The organisation aims to broaden attitudes and horizons through networking and exchange of experiences with schools in other countries. This project is the first opportunity to join the Erasmus network of schools and was therefore aimed at: 1) to provide opportunities for two school staff members to improve their qualifications in international training in project organisation and management and physical activity and healthy lifestyle, 2) to enable students to participate in short-term group mobility in STEAM and ecology-related activities (building a smart greenhouse, organic planting), engaging in non-traditional educational activities together with peers from Norway.
