Vilnius University considered the long-term strategic goals described in its strategic plan while implementing this Erasmus+ project. Participation in Erasmus+ programme is seen as a strategic tool to better know partners for the purpose of establishing strategic partnerships, improve quality of the academic activities, and develop service infrastructures thus increasing internationalization of the institution in all spheres of its life. The university is open to cooperation with all institutions of higher education that are comparable in their profile or any cross-sectorial cooperation where either academic or scientific interests of academic/research staff and students are met. Such core values as societal impact, democracy, respect for diversity and human rights, work towards United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, academic freedom, equity and inclusion were guiding principles for reaching major Vilnius University’s strategy in general and participation in Erasmus+ project. The University has sought to involve all community members including students and staff in numerous activities available under Erasmus+ programme. The main objectives of this project were: to increase the number of mobile participants (students and staff); to promote new forms of mobility (e.g. short-term mobility, participate/organize Blended Intensive Programmes, etc.); to encourage green travelling and increase the participation of those with fewer opportunities; to ensure transparency of the procedures in organizing mobility activities; to guarantee full recognition of study periods abroad; to balance exchanges in terms of reciprocity of incoming and outgoing flows and the needs of individual faculties and study programmes; to improve the quality of services and teaching activities.
