Objectives

It is inevitably clear that older people are no longer competitive in the labor market, due to slower learning, harder receptivity to innovation, lower productivity, infrequent illness, physical weakness and so on. It was this context that reinforces our motivation to create a mechanism and tools to give the project 's target group a' second breath 'in the labour market. We focused our efforts on helping older people stay in the labor market, believing that this could ensure their active income and potentially reduce liabilities (compensation, targeted benefits, etc.). Work, being useful and being able to take care of themselves would also reduce their morbidity, psychological problems and feelings of hopelessness, with most of them simply "waiting to be invited beyond". We believed that the measures we offered are meaningful, will guarantee change and will be useful. That is why THE AIM of this project was to create a mechanism and tools to refine the skills and professional aptitudes of older people.

Background

The project countries (LT, LV, PL and BG) are characterized by an aging population and a relatively rapid increase in the proportion of older people. Recognizers of the Silver Economy rely on research and find that such individuals have traditionally accumulated enough wealth to stay out of work - they tend to go to tourism, attend cultural events and art exhibitions, improve health, exercise and simply consume things they didn't seem necessary before. We do not deny that this is also the case in the partner countries, but we are sure that the accumulated wealth aspect in our countries applies only to a small part of the target group of this project - people over 65 years of age. There are a number of reports showing that people of retirement age in the project countries belong to a lower-than-average stratum, and are often very close to the statistical poverty line. We are convinced that most people of retirement age do not care about entertainment and spending, but about income that maintains a level of dignity and ensures at least a little higher than the minimum standard of living - most people of retirement age il LT, LV, PL and BG would like to stay in the labor market for as long as possible.
