Objectives

Generation Z, also known as Digital Natives, is growing rapidly across various media platforms and cyberspace. in 2020 Statistical reports highlight that the population of 849.5 million has 1.09 billion mobile networks, 711.3 million internet users and 470.5 million active social media users. It should be noted that 78% of EU youth are active users of social media. This social media involvement poses challenges, as excessive use has been linked to problems such as depression, social anxiety, reduced life satisfaction, poor academic success, mental and physical health problems, addiction, and cyberbullying. Despite the advantages of social media, the study highlights the need to carefully examine its advantages and disadvantages. Our project is motivated by these findings to address issues related to excessive social media use among Gen Z. Calling Youth to Be Positively Social aims to empower young people, especially from disadvantaged backgrounds, to navigate the digital landscape safely and effectively. By addressing digital risks and challenges such as addiction, cyberbullying and privacy issues, the project aims to strengthen digital competences and promote responsible digital engagement. By raising awareness, improving skills and fostering a culture of inclusion, the project aims to equip young people with the necessary tools and knowledge to make informed decisions, foster social harmony and harness the potential of digital technologies for personal and professional growth. Main objectives: O1. Raise awareness about the risks and disadvantages of excessive use of social networks and dependence on digital technologies. O2. Develop young people's digital competences, focusing on skills related to online safety, privacy protection and responsible digital behaviour. O3. Raise awareness, harmony online, promoting a culture of inclusion and combating cyberbullying.
