Objectives

This project was brought up with the idea to influence the participants in questioning their own belief systems, mindsets, stereotypes and assist the process of acquiring skills and ways of critical thinking. “I THINK”, as the project title, depicts the personal responsibility of youngsters, their capabilities of forming their own opinions, despite being heavily altered by views of their relatives, friends, communities, the internet, and social media. These sources of information can, at times, be misleading, strip them from their self-confidence (free-thought and action wise), force youngsters to join different radical groups, have suicidal thoughts and/or have a tough time in participating in the social landscape. With this project, we invited the participants to critically overview their own thoughts and opinions, as well as aimed to empower them to be the change for themselves and the environments surrounding them. Not only that, the title, as an acronym, can be dissected as such: Inclusion – bringing people, different cultures, religions and regions closer together, despite all the stereotypes, misleading information (especially from the internet); Tolerance – boosting tolerance towards others, especially those who are considered „not normal“ in that certain society; Humility – having a sense of connectedness with the whole world and other people; Intercultural – exchanging and embracing world cultures with an open mind; Non-formal – adapting non-formal methods in pursuing the project goals; Knowledge – „Without knowledge action is useless and knowledge without action is futile“ (Abu Bakr). These key-words embody the main focus of the project and our values as well. The general objectives of this project were: 1. To promote non-formal learning and cooperation with Partner Countries; 2. To improve 8 key competences; 3. To spread the knowledge about Erasmus+ programme. The specific objectives of this project were: 4. To enhance the young people‘s attitude towards positive change and solidarity with minorities and people from different backgrounds; 5. To encourage discussions about cultures, values, norms, taboos, languages and local issues related to social stigma/prejudices; 6. To enhance media literacy regarding migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and socially excluded groups in general; 7. To learn how to understand, control and take responsibility for own thoughts, emotions and attitudes as a first step to accept oneself and later on others; 8. To learn how to take personal responsibility and have the courage to become an active citizen (through coaching methods); 9. To support participants to be active in their local communities towards causes and social issues; 10. To increase critical thinking through methods related to experiential cooking and science, coaching and outdoor education.
