Objectives

The École d'Hôtellerie et de Tourisme du Luxembourg is the only institution to offer a BTS Hospitality Management in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The aim of this application was to fund credit mobility for students in the short cycle for work placements in companies for students offered in the 4th semester. The Erasmus+ programme enables EHTL students to undertake placements abroad lasting 18 weeks or more. Engaged at middle management level in their respective departments, they become involved in the management and organisation of hotels, catering, tourism and events. Luxembourg, a small country, does not have enough companies large enough to offer placements to all 2nd year BTS students. The European Union, on the other hand, has a multitude of companies in the various fields required. Students who have completed the theoretical training during the first 3 semesters at the school will be able to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice, while keeping abreast of developments in daily business. The added value in a new context (language, culture, city...) is much higher abroad than in Luxembourg. A regular exchange between the placement tutor, the student and the company mentor will enable the development of professional skills to be monitored as closely as possible. A detailed internship report provided by the intern will enable us to keep a watchful eye on the hospitality sector and assess the training needs of our future classes. This placement report is an official document which is assessed by the Evaluation Committee and by the EHTL Placement Office.
