AEHT is a European association that connects vocational schools and vocational colleges that are active in the field of tourism, hospitality, culinary arts, pastry, destination management and sports. It organises several annual get-togethers, including competitions as well as informal gatherings. Its main objective is to connect schools and regions that would normally not have the chance to meet and exchange staff and students. With this in mind, many years ago the idea sprung up to organise a pre-Christmas get-together of schools and share Christmas customs, habits and approaches. The event has grown over the years and now each year, it brings together some 100 people from 15 or more countries. Since the aforementioned schools very often lack the international office, project office, or Erasmus office, AEHT acts as the coordinator and facilitates the exchange. Each year, we aim to invite different schools and different countries, providing the chance to a wide variety of people. This also contributes to the versatility of the event and keeps it interesting as there is a new aspect to it. The emphasis each year is also to enable the participation of deprivileged youth (either regarding social status/standing, family situation, or geographical area). We try to include more countries from former Eastern Europe (starting with the Baltic states and going all the way down to the Mediterranean).
