Objectives

Water sustainability and climate change are critical issues that have become increasingly prevalent in recent years due to population growth, industrialization, and unsustainable practices. As a result, the state of water resources on our planet has been significantly depleted, with some regions at risk of becoming deserts if urgent action is not taken. Despite our technological advances, overexploitation of natural resources has led to the loss of biodiversity and the jeopardization of the entire biosphere, reminding us that we can't carry out on our ways and that our planet is at a critical state. If Europe isn't feeling the consequences of water shortages, we can perceive worrying situations in the African continent, with a direct causality between drought and extreme poverty. The project is named "water matter" to signify that it's time to pay attention to the water situation not just in Europe but all over the world, while also thinking about the fate that awaits our future generations. This is why it's important to raise awareness of the consequences of misusing the planet's resources and promote sustainable practices, especially through the younger generations, who are more sensitive to the current state of the environment. It's a Water Matter consists of a youth exchange bringing together participants from 7 Euro-Mediterranean countries, who will share and learn practices on sustainable development, ecology, and reconnecting with nature. For such a project to be a success, we aim to meet the following objectives: • Promote collective reflection on the ecological question at the Euro-Mediterranean scale by evaluating the realities of resource deployment while clarifying the causes and global effects. • Engage and empower young people to participate in solving local and global environmental issues while making the connection between these two spheres. • Understand the impact of the waste of natural resources on climate change and the impoverishment of other communities. • Educate young people to disseminate sustainable practices to their peers and communities, contributing to an eco-responsible attitude. • Provide a space to develop and exchange ideas and practices on environmental activism.
