Objectives

The CHAMPION project aimed to empower individuals with a migrant background by leveraging their cultural heritage as a foundation for sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation. Key objectives included providing tailored training pathways to equip participants with the necessary entrepreneurial skills and knowledge, while fostering accessibility through Universal Design for Learning principles. Additionally, the project sought to strengthen the capacity of NGOs and CSOs to support cultural heritage-based entrepreneurial initiatives, enabling them to offer effective, context-specific programs. By integrating cultural heritage into business models, CHAMPION also promoted green and socially responsible entrepreneurship, addressing contemporary market demands while preserving cultural identities. Ultimately, the project aimed to foster transnational collaboration, ensuring scalable, impactful results that advance inclusion, skill development, and innovation, in alignment with Erasmus+ priorities.

Background

The CHAMPION project was initiated to address the pressing barriers faced by individuals with a migrant background—whether first-generation migrants or descendants—seeking social and economic inclusion. Despite their rich cultural heritage, these individuals often face high unemployment rates, underrepresentation in entrepreneurial initiatives, and limited access to tailored training programs that could leverage their unique potential. Our project targeted these gaps by recognizing cultural heritage as a powerful yet underutilized resource for entrepreneurship. Migrants often lack accessible, structured learning pathways that integrate their cultural identity into innovative business models, hindering their ability to achieve financial independence or create sustainable ventures. CHAMPION also aimed to address the specific challenges of NGOs and civil society organizations (CSOs) that support migrants, enabling them to foster entrepreneurship through effective, culturally relevant training and mentoring programs. By aligning with Erasmus+ priorities, the project seeks to advance inclusion, empower low-skilled adults, and contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage through sustainable economic activity.
