Objectives

1. Get an insight into new innovative teaching methods, increasing teachers' professional competences in the field of study planning meaningful interdisciplinary teaching of content 2. Offer an opportunity to every educator, also to those who don't know English so well, promoting inclusion and ensuring equal access 3. Increase students' learning motivation by getting involved in improving the school's learning environment, introducing good practices from other schools in Valmiera State Gymnasium

Background

Valmiera State Gymnasium is the upper secondary school, there study students from grade 7 to 12. The school also implements the function of regional methodological centre thus providing further education for teachers of the region. Several teachers of Valmiera State Gymnasium are also the leaders of study fields in the region. Before starting the project a survey was carried out and its results showed that, by continously training other teachers, the teachers of Valmiera State Gymnasium have achieved professional burnout - the moment when the collection of methodological recommendations and advice begins to run out, because the teacher has not had the opportunity to improve pedagogically and receive advice him/herself. In order to promote teachers' motivation a set of courses were found out offering an opportunity to every teacher, regardless fo their foreign language skills. A part of students lose study motivation because they can't see the connection between everyday life and what they have learned in different subjects. By allowing students to create the learning environment at school, by introducing innovations in the learning process, their motivation increased.
