Objectives

One of the objectives was to learn the basic skills of coaching in order to promote students' harmonious personal development and well-being at school, increase motivation and develop decision-making skills. The second objective was to learn how to use ICT tools for outdoor learning and teaching, thus diversifying the learning process.

Background

One of the biggest challenges in the school is ensuring a positive microclimate among pupils, which in turn increases learning motivation. The problem of rural schools (such as Grundzāle Primary School) is the lack of support staff: a psychologist is available only once a week, and there is no social pedagogue at all. Consequently, most of the work on the personal development and well-being of pupils rests on the shoulders of class teachers, who lack the knowledge and skills to deal with various psychological, social and emotional problems. The second major challenge is the lack of knowledge and skills to make meaningful use of ICT resources, both in school and for the pupils themselves, to diversify the learning process, especially when conducting learning outside the classroom.
