New learning and teaching methods and approaches

Objectives

The introduction of the new content and approach in education in Latvia requires the use of new, until then unknown methods for the implementation of the new standards. After familiarizing ourselves with the program offered by the course, we gained confidence that this offer meets our goals. Courses in Italy were chosen to find new ideas, exchange experiences and motivate us for further teaching after the pandemic, when countless webinars were actively attended, because only motivated teachers can have motivated students. Participation in international courses provides an opportunity to refresh language knowledge and communication skills in a foreign language. The innovative methods used enable the achievement of the set goals - create a positive attitude of students towards learning and encourage the desire to learn something new. improves students' learning motivation and engagement. During the lessons, students show interest, improve their communication skills, can formulate the result to be achieved and evaluate what they have done.

Background

The motivation and inclusion of students is currently relevant not only in Latvia, but throughout Europe. During the thirty years of its existence, the teachers of the private secondary school KLASIKA are quite successfully solving this problem. The goal of our school is: "Organization and implementation of a full-fledged general educational pedagogical process that promotes the personal growth of each participant in a multilingual and multicultural environment". After the pandemic and two years of remote learning, many students need support to return and integrate into the learning process.
