Objectives

The ideological background of given Erasmus+ Project consists of European Commission's Plan for Modernisation and Internationalisation of Higher Education, Education Development Guidelines of the Republic of Latvia, as well as the Strategy of Activity and Development of Riga Building College for 2021 - 2027 and it’s internationalisation policy. The strategy of Riga Building College is to create the conditions necessary to create a high-quality learning process, based on modernisation and the quality of sustainable development. In the period of 2021-2027, Riga Building College aims to maintain the number of students going for studies or practice not less than 2% of the total number of state-funded programmes, the number of teaching mobilities - not less than 50% of the academic staff, mobility of staff training - not less than 20% of the staff. The goal of student mobility for studies is the international recognition of the study period, which means the allocation of a certain number of ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) points as well as supporting those students during their come back period to help them reintegrate into the studies successfully. Besides the acquired academic knowledge, practical skills, and competences, one of the most valuable benefits for students is personal growth - the ability to organise certain aspects of mobility independently, to live in a foreign country for a longer or shorter period of time - with a foreign culture, language and social context. An excellent example is two students who went on long-term study mobility to North-Macedonia. The first and perhaps the most challenging step was to acquire a visa. The determination and commitment with which they did not give up and found solutions in various challenging situations in order to achieve a successful result is an indispensable experience that will serve as an example for similar situations in life. After returning from study mobility, the academic benefit was also very significant, as they shared their experiences with their lecturers on different methods and approaches in comprehending the study content as well as personally this mobility served as a cornerstone for them realising that the chosen profession (architecture) is the right choice in their professional life.
