Background

Climate change is increasingly acknowledged as a significant challenge for humanity and all life on Earth. The impact of climate change is becoming evident in the life cycles and geographical distributions of global plant species. Certain plants, particularly those native to regions or ecosystems highly susceptible to climate change, face potential risks. Just like all other organisms in the biosphere, medicinal and aromatic plants are not exempt from the repercussions of climate change. Medicinal Herbs are used to cure diseases and enhance general health and wellbeing. However, young people nowadays do not know the potential of simple medicinal plants; they do not realize that some of the most common plants found around them can help them treat many different ailments. So not to forget the power of plants the project Back to Green focuses on educating and developing students’ knowledge of herbs and plants, by carrying out inspection and research in different countries in their endemic conditions. Within the project participants raise their awareness of the climate change effects on Medicinal, Aromatic Antiviral Plants and EU Vegetation and understand their role in preservation of medicinal plants.
