Our project aimed to explore Permaculture, a lesser-known discipline that integrates social, economic, and environmental dimensions in sustainable design. By acquiring knowledge of Permaculture principles, we sought to align our entities' actions, initiatives, and strategies with EU climate change policies. Permaculture fosters healthier models for agriculture, housing, climate, and society, while promoting learning opportunities. Our project aimed to enhance economic development and strive for a fairer, more sustainable society at regional and national levels. Addressing diverse needs is a top priority: 1. Enhance staff's Permaculture knowledge for local development and positive global impact. 2. Participate in global social and environmental movements. 3. Improve the quality of our EU projects. The needs mentioned are closely tied to the following objectives we aimed to achieve throughout the project: 1: Know in-depth techniques of Permaculture for the care of the Earth. 2: Understand how we can combat climate change through Permaculture. 3: Obtain practical tools for the sustainable design of projects, including how to streamline group processes to facilitate participation.
BALKANIA primarily emphasizes training, workshops, projects, and activities aimed at promoting human capacity development in various fields such as entrepreneurship, tourism, agro-tourism, environmental conservation, sustainable development, farming, and the preservation of the natural, cultural, and anthropological heritage of the Balkans. We take the lead in developing curricula and programs, and effectively deliver training for professions that lack entrepreneurship or tourism market skills, or are not adequately covered by formal education. Our aim is to bridge these gaps and provide valuable training opportunities to individuals in these fields. We developed this project to facilitate the exchange of experiences and good practices in environmental sustainability. The course, held in Penagos (Cantabria, Spain), focused on providing essential skills in Permaculture and designing sustainable projects. Our goal was to share this knowledge with the adults we work with, fostering their motivation and active participation in collaborative environmental and social initiatives. By involving staff from supporting organizations, we aimed to build a strong team with diverse skills for future endeavors.
