Objectives

Increasing the civic engagement of young people and their participation in democratic life is a problem that is being addressed at the national and European levels. The project "Youth Empowerment Strategies 4 Digital Citizenship" was created with the goal of to increase/improve the level of participation of youth in the democratic and civic processes via digital means. This project gave every interested young person the opportunity to present and increase their ideas and knowledge about democratic life and different digital tools. The trends for active citizenships and using digital tools and platforms have brought together the INNOVA LAB - North Macedonia and non-governmental organizations from four other countries (LYKIA IZCILIK VE DOGA SPORLARI KULUBU DERNEGI – LIDOSK, Turkey; SDRUZHENIE BALGARSKI MLADEZHKI FORUM-Bulgarian Youth Forum, Bulgaria; Navissos, Serbia and UMBRELLA, Georgia) working on the same problems related to the idea of creating and implementing youth exchanges that will contribute to the activation of young people. It is also one of the activities supported in the youth sector under the Erasmus+ programme, namely the promotion of the involvement of young people in the democratic life of Europe, as well as their active citizenship. As well as it fits to recently EU adopted new strategy 2019-2027 the issue of digital citizenship is given as a priority. In line with these aspirations of the European Commission expressed through the Erasmus+ program, the INNOVA LAB and partner organizations have set themselves the objectives for the project “ YES 4 Digital Citizenship”. This project's specific objectives were as follows: - the young people to understand their rights as citizens in the European family - to exchange of experience, knowledge and best practices in active citizenship and using digital tools - to increase youth awareness of their role in society and active participation in it - readiness of youth for active digital citizenship through implementing and monitoring creative strategies. - contribution for stronger and more inclusive civil society - to bring together active youngsters to share, explore and develop the tools of digital democracy/engagement in order to improve active participation at local and European level.
