Active citizenship involves volunteering as a tool for individual and societal progress. Volunteerism lets people and communities participate in their own growth. As an important tool of active citizenship, volunteerism can make an impact on the community. Not only that volunteerism is socially useful, but it is also useful for the individual. By volunteering, young people can benefit their career prospects, it can help them gain experience and skills required for the professional turn they are considering taking. Community service can provide them with the chance to improve their skills important for a workplace, such as communication and organizational skills, teamwork, planning, problem-solving and task management. Young people could first merely try out an attractive career through volunteering before leaping to a long-term commitment and have the competencies that the labour market needs. However, many young people do not identify things that have taken part in as volunteering as well as are not informed about the benefits of volunteering and what can they gain from it. The implementation of this project contributed towards this direction by promoting volunteerism among young people, making them more aware of the diversity of volunteering opportunities that exist today as well as the countless benefits they provide for personal, social and professional development. The aim of the project was to provide youth workers with competencies and practices to promote and properly inform young people about volunteering as a tool for active citizenship, as well as individual and societal progress. The training course as the only mobility activity of the project successfully provided youth workers with tools, information, and resources to make young people aware of the diversity of volunteering opportunities that are available for them. The needs addressed by the project and the main aim were achieved by fulfilling the following objectives: - developed a volunteering platform where any interested party can be well informed about the benefits of volunteering and volunteering opportunities at any time according to their interests, - improved volunteering mobility of young people, locally, regionally and on a European level, - shared good volunteering practices, ideas and solutions to common problems, - promoted Erasmus+ programme as a platform for volunteering and possibilities for mobility of young people, - built strong partnerships and connections which serve as a base for further activities and projects. The project offered a promotion and proper information to youth workers about volunteering as a tool for active citizenship, to improve the volunteering mobility of young people, locally, regionally and on the European level. Having the knowledge and skills to understand, challenge and engage with democratic society including politics, the media, civil society, the economy and the law is an important part of the development of young people. Through citizenship education, young people can take action on issues concerning themselves and to play an active part in the democratic process, thereby becoming more effective members of society. The project through the work of the participating youth workers and organizations now encourages young people to express their views, to have a voice and make a difference to the communities and organizations in which they operate, and to reflect on what they have learnt.
