The project was aimed to reach the following objectives: - to develop a curriculum about Media Literacy of Adults (a curriculum that will empower the adults in their understanding of how media content influences us and others and to become able to access, analyze, evaluate, create and use the media); - to strengthen the organizational capacities in the development and implementation of curricula; - to create an OER platform for the curricula, as an innovative way of learning and self-assessment
Media literacy is a topic that has been broadly discussed in the last few years mainly focusing on children and youth. We decided to apply for this project because we recognized a significant need among adults over 55 to use modern media. This demographic group faces challenges in recognizing fake news, disinformation, and the message behind the photo and often shares private information on social media. Their lack of information about the media literacy topic can impact their well-being and decision-making. With the project, we contributed to the development of an innovative, modular curriculum specifically for this group. This curriculum will empower elderly people with the critical skills necessary to assess media content effectively and offer them the opportunity to choose a learning method that is most convenient for them (inside, outdoors or online). This project also strengthened the partner institutions capacities in designing and implementing educational programs.
