Our project aimed to raise awareness among young individuals in our country and partner nations about the importance of holistic well-being. Leveraging social media, the internet, and in-person workshops, we tailored our approach to resonate with each generation. Our empowered students became ambassadors, contributing to our objectives of establishing online resources for widespread access. Additionally, we sought to initiate dialogues with policy makers, school administrators, and ministries in North Macedonia, specifically addressing the nutritional offerings in student dorms and kitchens. Armed with the scientific evidence gathered through the project, as well as insights from the practical workshops and meetings, our approach aimed to introduce evidence-based strategies into these discussions.
As a group of young resident doctors, we recognize the health challenges in North Macedonia, including the factors contributing to chronic diseases. Research highlights the impact of early deaths and healthcare costs due to preventable conditions. To address this, we launched the United Wellness Project, focusing on educating youth across our nation about three key pillars of wellness: sleep, nutrition, and physical activity. These factors play a crucial role in disease prevention and overall health enhancement. Our project aimed to empower young individuals to make informed health choices, ensuring they lead fulfilling lives to their fullest potential. Insights into childhood obesity and nutrition have further shaped our project's core principles. The need for increasing health literacy and health culture was the main leading factor in the project’s creation.
