Objectives

Through 21st-century competencies, we wanted to promote an inclusive environment. To obtain teaching and learning, we wanted to experience hands-on strategies with practical experience to promote engagement and participation for students from different countries and learning needs.

Background

Our organisation promotes diversity in abilities in academic and holistic education through outdoor learning and a cross-curricular approach. Our SLT are the key persons in implementing this project. Since 2016, we have been working towards better literacy strategies to support students with dyslexia. We were conducting a multisensory spelling approach by using a toolbox that was created for every class to be used in literacy lessons, with an appropriate assessment. We foster an inclusive environment as we have students from different countries. In 2020, we were awarded as a Dyslexia Friendly School. We are supported by the Dyslexia Institute UK by attending conferences and press releases. We are in the introductory phase of Autism friendly school hosting a multisensory room funded by EU. Our school hosts students from around three small, surrounding villages. In our school we have 334 students, which includes 36 students with special educational needs: 18 teachers, 9 Kindergarten Educators and 30 Learning Support Educators The organisation support 36 students following mainstream activities while 6 learners follow a special educational plan. Common student profiles differ from dyslexia, ASD etc.
