Objectives

Achieved objectives have been: -Improving the technical and practical teaching skills of the school teachers; -offering a Continuous Professional Development platform; -making understandable the importance and the dynamics of the 'knowing-how-to-do' concept; -generating synergies between different education worlds; -making Maltese educators more aware of the Estonian system of education; -implementing methods and concepts being adopted by Estonian schools within the local Maltese educational context.

Background

The project was born to strengthen the synergy between education and training (continuous and non-formal) and to stimulate new approaches in the educational sector. The project also seeked to develop a wider interpretation and approach of continuous professional development. The project also aims to be a driving force for the school to successfully meet the contemporary challenges. This in line with the recent developments in the Maltese education in which a number of reforms that are being implemented at primary and secondary level are based on the success of the Estonian system of education. The mobilities realised through the project have been a concrete opportunity to discuss and be trained about: -the main principles underlying the Estonian Education system; -the new curriculum for Estonian schools and how it is reflected in the teaching and the assessment of students of different ages; -inclusive education; -counselling and other welfare services that are offered to the students.
