Our school is based in the early childhood care and education (ECCE) which is defined by UNESCO as the “holistic development of a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs in order to build a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.” Thus, at this stage of education, regardless their needs with the help of educators, shape young learners’ minds, attitudes, and behaviours. Through this project, we educators aim to gain more knowledge and promote various strategies through theory and practice that can be acknowledged with the 21st century competences like communication, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration between educators. Our aim is to broaden our knowledge about Universal Design for Learning and embracing multiculturalism. Also, to explore different strategies besides the ones we use at our school to support students who encounter barriers to fully participate, engage and access the curriculum to reach their full potential. It also aims, that through both expertise, we continue developing and strengthening our potential and abilities to further remove all the barriers encountered throughout the scholastic year with a child-centred approach.
Our school is a non-profit public organisation. It follows the National Curriculum Framework by encouraging differential teaching and effective inclusive classes. The Kindergarten and year one levels practice the emergent curriculum. This academic year (2023-2024) we are heading towards implementing the emergent curriculum approach at year two levels. Our school is involved in different projects which includes e-Twinning. Every year our school celebrates Autism Awareness, ADHD and Rare Disease Day which. For the last two years, our school has been equipped with an Autism Tool Kit. Our school is equipped with a lot of more resources to accommodate all students. Every student has a mathematic tool box and for literacy they have a display file with the necessary material accordingly. The School’s aim is that no one falls behind. Children are considered unique and we practice differentiated teaching, paying attention to the student’s cultural backgrounds, strengths and needs to plan and implement learning strategies to develop their full potential.
