As outlined under the first question, through this project Jobsplus wanted to empower its staff by enhancing their professional development. Through the exchange of insights and information about our practices with ADEM's employees, Jobsplus also wanted to explore the practices adopted by ADEM with a particular focus on the training aspects. The job shadowing was to serve as an opportunity for the staff to reflect on how clients may be dealt with differently, how further support may be offered to vulnerable clients, how partnerships with external providers may increase the quality and effectiveness of our courses and so forth.
Jobsplus is Malta's public employment agency (PES). Our mission is to assist individuals in improving their chances of finding or retaining employment or becoming more employable and to assist employers in finding suitable employees or training their employees by means of various services or schemes. Besides offering job brokerage services, Jobsplus is also a licensed Further Education Institute, hence it is imperative that our courses remain in line with the needs of a changing labour market. The scope of the Innovative Training Strategies project was to enhance the professional development of 13 Jobsplus' employees. Hence through the job shadowing experience, employees had the opportunity to learn from practices adopted in another PES but at the same time the experience served to empower their skills and increase their motivation. This was done in line with an external benchlearning exercise that remarked about the lack of staff empowerment. Through this project, Jobsplus tried to address this limitation and following the experience gained more employees are being encouraged to participate in projects funded through Erasmus+.
