Development of training coursesOvercoming skills mismatch and addressing the needs of the labour marketReception and integration of refugees and migrants

Objectives

The project aimed to develop IT training courses to improve digital readiness and capacity for both migrant learners and adult education staff. By addressing the digital skills gap, the project sought to support migrants’ integration into the labor market and broader society. Additional objectives included enhancing the competence of educators to deliver virtual and blended courses and creating accessible pathways for migrants to participate in vocational and upskilling programs, contributing to their well-being and inclusion. The ultimate goal was to foster the reception and integration of refugees and migrants while contributing to national priorities of reducing unemployment and supporting vulnerable adults.

Background

We applied for this project to address critical gaps in IT skills among low- and medium-skilled migrant learners, as identified through a survey conducted with migrants and adult education staff. The survey highlighted that these gaps hindered migrants’ ability to participate in upskilling programs, exacerbating challenges in accessing the labor market and blending into European society. The need became more urgent following the pandemic, which increased reliance on virtual and blended learning methods, further marginalizing learners without basic IT skills. Educators also identified their own IT training needs to better support migrant learners. This project aligns with national and EU priorities to promote inclusion and address the digital transformation by equipping migrants and adult education staff with essential IT skills.
