Background

The FAIRNESS project, coordinated by MSEI, brought together partners to address critical challenges faced by SMEs and family-run businesses across Europe. Meta4 developed competence-based training courses to support SMEs and startups in Carinthia, focusing on modular programs to improve credit decision-making. Vernian targeted the financial knowledge gap among SMEs, which represent over 99% of EU businesses, aiming to enhance their literacy, sustainability, and funding readiness, especially amid crises like COVID-19. Exeo Lab addressed barriers to finance, outdated managerial skills, and digital transformation, equipping businesses with tools to adapt and grow. South-West University "Neofit Rilski" contributed by developing training modules aligned with EU standards and online platforms to upgrade SMEs’ qualifications in financial tools. EPT focused on improving access to capital for Bulgarian SMEs, reinforcing its training services and expanding activities. Together, the partners worked to enhance resilience, digital readiness, and sustainable growth for SMEs.
