Objectives

Internationalisation is one of Saxion's key focus areas in its 2020-2024 strategic plan. We are currently developing a strategic internationalisation policy that benefits the region, as we believe it strengthens the pillars of education, research, and entrepreneurship. Internationalisation is not a goal in itself but a means to enhance our education and research, thereby creating a greater positive impact on the regional labour market. Our ambition is to contribute to solutions for international challenges within the (EU) region through our activities. Aligned with Saxion's Educational Vision, we approach these challenges from an interdisciplinary perspective. International mobility naturally helps individuals step out of their own bubble and exposes them to different perspectives. Key Action KA131 remains the foundation for enabling individual mobilities and achieving significant impact at both personal and professional levels. Call 2022 has once again substantially contributed to developing the skills society needs, benefiting both students and staff. Partnerships play a crucial role in creating an international study and working environment for students and staff. By jointly developing education, disseminating research, sharing knowledge, and exchanging students, our partners contribute to the overall quality of our education. Saxion aims for sustainable partnerships that deepen our collaboration. Since call 2019, the coordination of partnership management has been formally assigned to the Education and Student Support/ International Office, hereby centralising partnership management. Through a joint and centralised approach, Saxion aims for an optimal portfolio, which offers: * Opportunities for an international experience for every student, teacher, and employee. * More options for internationalisation@home, such as blended learning and virtual exchange. * Knowledge sharing. * In the long term, a valuable and measurable contribution to the (inter)national labour market and the professional development of students and staff. * Position within a (research) network. * Contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. To realise these ambitions, greater coherence between Saxion's international policy agendas at the faculty level and centrally is required. In 2024-2025 we will take the next step to achieve this. We are delighted that Saxion's strategic plan for 2025-2030 supports this. A deeper, integrated approach to internationalisation is being pursued through centralisation. While student mobility continues to be the most important mobility flow under the call 2022, one of our primary focus areas has been actively encouraging staff mobility—both for teaching and training purposes. Staff members who benefit from exchange experiences themselves are better equipped to promote it among their students and/ or to apply lessons learned to their own work, making them important catalysts for boosting mobilities amongst students. In addition to promoting staff mobility, we have invested considerable effort in expanding short-term blended mobilities. The interest in the possibilities offered by the call was piqued, especially given the opportunities it offers to students with fewer opportunities, to still participate in an internationalisation activity without needing to opt for a long-term mobility programme. Last but not least, we have aimed to spotlight ECHE and highlight the importance of the quality of the Erasmus programme internally. Key focus has been the horizontal principles as well as the maintenance of e.g. the Course Catalogue and risk management.
