This project had two objectives: A. Build capacity of 2811 and Stichting TechnoTrend (STT) to be able to work transnationally and increase the quality of their work; B. Meet the needs of the VET education sector regarding sustainability. In both Germany and the Netherlands VET has the obligation to integrate sustainability in their curricula. In this project we have focused on VET institutes who offer fashion as a field of study. We support them via developing an online Climate Action Academy including a Young Climathon.
During the last decades, the fast growth of the world population and the dramatic change in consumption patterns have brought to light worrying and challenging phenomena from different economic sectors, especially the Textile Industry. The clothing industry is in the worldwide top 3 of most polluting industries. In this project, we have sparked the interest of young people in this issue and worked with them on potential solutions. We collaborated with VETschools to reach young professionals at the start of their careers. That made it posible to contributing to innovation in vocational education and training and viewing the sector from a more environmentally friendly perspective was new for the teachers, the schools needed significant support. They required a way to address this theme with the students. We not only provided this method but also adapted and further developed it based on evaluations, documenting everything in a toolkit so that others can use this approach as well.
