Objectives

The project aimed to develop an Extended Mathematics Core Curriculum (EMCC) tailored for VI students, together with detailed instruction guidelines for both braille specialists and math teachers. By providing material, training professionals and testing the resources we ensure that learning becomes more inclusive, we contribute to improved teaching practices, and strengthen cooperation between countries working in this field.

Background

TouchingMaths+ was initiated to address the significant gap in access to advanced mathematics education for blind and visually impaired (VI) students. These learners often face limited or outdated materials and a lack of tailored resources to support their needs. Additionally, teachers and braille professionals required more practical tools and training to effectively include VI students in mathematics classrooms. Our project aimed to promote inclusive education by developing accessible, high-quality resources available across Europe and beyond.
