The project aimed to provide high-quality, tested, and cost-effective guidelines for designing and producing tactile books and illustrations and book examples. It also contributed to a strengthened national and international cooperation in this field, while supporting the development of literacy, concept-building skills, and broader educational opportunities for VI children.
Visually impaired (VI) children often have limited access to sufficient tactile books and illustrations, which can restrict their opportunities for literacy, concept development, and broader cognitive and emotional growth. Additionally, there is a need for stronger collaboration between VI specialists and production experts across countries. The project addresses these gaps by creating practical tools and guidelines.
